Wild silver. Iridescent fire. Beautiful unpredictability.
At the center of this one-of-a-kind ring sits a mesmerizing Ethiopian opal in an unusual geometric cut. Its surface comes alive with brilliant flashes of pink, turquoise, green, and fiery orange, shifting with every movement against the dark, rugged texture of the silver. Under other lighting, watch it come alive with bright reds flashes.
A note about this gemstone: Ethiopian opals are especially delicate when it comes to moisture. This ring should be kept dry and removed before washing your hands, bathing, or swimming to help preserve the stone's extraordinary play of color.
The opal is nestled in an intricately detailed, sterling silver filigree setting, its delicate edging creating a striking contrast against the bold, sculptural band.
This is one of my signature Live Edge rings, created through a process that embraces the unpredictable nature of working with metal. I sculpt hot sterling silver into an organic band, work it through my rolling mill, and fuse the surface with fine silver dust. The resulting texture is beautifully irregular, with softly undulating edges, deep crevices, and an almost ancient, weathered appearance.
No two Live Edge bands emerge quite alike. Each develops its own contours and character through the making process, ensuring that the finished ring is as individual as the gemstone it holds.
The result feels wonderfully elemental: raw, rugged silver surrounding a tiny explosion of iridescent color. A piece of wearable sculpture with just a touch of the unexpected.

About the Stone
Ethiopian opals are celebrated for their spectacular play of color, an optical phenomenon created as light interacts with the gemstone's microscopic silica structure. This particular opal displays a captivating spectrum of shifting pinks, greens, blues, and warm flashes of orange.
Many Ethiopian opals are hydrophane, meaning their porous structure can absorb moisture. Exposure to water may temporarily change their appearance, transparency, or play of color, and repeated exposure can create additional risks. To protect this delicate gemstone, keep it dry and always remove the ring before washing your hands or coming into contact with water.
Opal has a Mohs hardness of approximately 5.5–6.5.
Traditionally associated with inspiration, creativity, and emotional expression, opal is believed to encourage imagination and a freer connection to one's inner spirit. Its ever-changing colors have long made it a symbol of individuality, transformation, and possibility.
